If you have a valid license or registration to practice nursing, you may become eligible for CNPS Professional Liability Protection and Core Services (PLP) by becoming a CNPS individual beneficiary.
Please note that assistance under CNPS Professional Liability Protection and Core Services is made available for legal issues arising any time in the future provided that they arise from circumstances or incidents that took place while you were a CNPS beneficiary. Assistance made available under the Supplementary Protection program is offered in accordance with the terms and conditions as outlined at: https://cnps.wpbeta.vortexdev.com/services/regulatory-complaints/. Please also be advised that the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) currently requires that registrants also hold a source of protection for disciplinary expenses with a limit of $50,000 per year. The CLPNA has advised that the CNPS Supplementary Protection Program satisfies this requirement.

The Ontario government has recently enacted “as of right” regulations (also known as interjurisdictional mobility under Bill 60, Your Health Act) that allow nurses from other Canadian jurisdictions to temporarily practice in hospitals and long-term care facilities prior to first completing their registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
